Overview / Purpose
History :
In January 2000, the Nashville CIO Council was formed and sponsored by a local information technology staffing company. The purpose was to establish a forum for Nashville’s top IT executives to network, develop personal and professional relationships, and to share knowledge and experience with fellow council members. Pat Camm became the facilitator of the organization and remains the facilitator even today.
In 2003, the CIO Council had grown to the point that it was able to support itself through the collection of modest dues and the Council separated from its original sponsor and became an independent organization. Membership had climbed to about 30 regular members and the Council had begun to get involved in working with other Nashville professional organizations to address the development of the IT business climate in the Nashville area.
As the Nashville Technology Council developed, it was clear that there was some synergy that could be achieved through a relationship between the two organizations. This relationship grew during 2004 and continues to strengthen each year.
Today, the Nashville CIO Council has approximately 50 members representing the major corporate entities of the Nashville area. Meetings are held once a month for an hour and a half which includes 30 minutes for socializing followed by a one hour presentation/discussion. There is typically one evening social event sponsored by the Council each year to further support the development of personal and professional networks between members.
